Empowering young people through scout values and community service
The Gambia Scouts Association
What We Do
The Scout association encourage and facilitate community service projects and initiatives, allowing young people to give back to their communities through activities such as volunteering at local charities, participating in environmental clean-up efforts, and assisting with disaster relief efforts.
Community Services
Humanitarian Work
The Scout Association plays a vital role in strengthening the resilience of local communities, and providing relief efforts, both in natural hazard-driven and conflict-driven disasters. Humanitarian values are an integral part of Scouting values, and this is why Scouts are often on the frontline when disasters hit.
We offer opportunities for young people to learn a wide range of practical skills, such as first aid, navigation, fire building, cooking, knot tying, and wilderness survival. These skills are taught through hands-on activities, workshops, and training sessions across all our skills centres in the Gambia from Bakoteh, Soma, Basse, Sanyang etc.
Skills Development
Outdoor Adventures
Scout associations organize various outdoor activities and adventures, including camping trips, hiking expeditions, backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, and survival skills training. These activities aim to foster a sense of adventure, self-reliance, and appreciation for nature among participants.
